can anyone tell me what if any advantage/ dissadvantage a tube set would have with a sigma 105 on d90.....what i mean is i know what they are for but would the cost give me a more satisfying result with my attempts at macro work ??

Tubes will enable you to focus closer (between 2:1 and 3:1 magnification if you use the full 68mm). They will also decrease your DOF and cut down the amount of light entering the lens for a given aperture and your working distance will be cut down.
I would perfect my technique with just the macro lens at 1:1 before looking for more magnification.

think i sensed i was looking for answers with the wallet rather than the skill ;)
note to self....must practice more.
