Kenko Pro 300 1.4x TC, Help Please

Is this on par with the Sigma 1.4x TC?

Only my Sigma 1.4x broke yesterday, looks like a spring has gone and the centre piece is loose from the front element and it almost wouldn't come off my camera when I was faffing earlier, so I think it's bit the dust.

Only had a it a couple of months from a guy on here, so I'm rather dissapointed.

I want another TC as it works well on my 100-300mm F4, but I've lost a little faith in Sigma having read this has happened to people before, so was wondering what the Kenko 1.4x would be like in comparison?

had the same issue a couple of Siggy converters, load of crap in terms of build quality. Kenko is much better and is certainly the equal in terms of quality.
 
Thanks, just what I wanted to hear.

Agreed, the build quality is terrible having seen how easily it can fall apart.

The Kenko looks alot more solid in pictures I've seen but to hear it is on par image quality wise I'm definately happy.

Just need to source one now lol :thumbs:

Another thumbs up for the Kenko Pro 300 - I have one, it is brilliant - almost as sharp as the Canon one which is over twice the price!
 
Kenko is good, but it doesn't sound like there's much wrong with your Siggy. It's easy enough for a screw or something to come loose.

If it was me, I'd take to it with a set of small screwdrivers and see if I could sort it out. You just need a bit of confidence rather than great engineering skill. If the worst comes to the worst, pop all the bits in a bag and send it to Sigma - they'll sort it out in no time, and surely at less cost than a new one.

Then sell it if you must. Plenty of buyers around, Sigma is a decent telecon.
 
Dan, I use a Sigma 1.4 and the screws do need tightening up every now and again. That isn`t just a Sigma issue though, other brand TC`s can be the same.
 
PROBLEM SOLVED!!!

Well I never...as above I only needed to unscrew the back element plate and inside are 3 screws holding the rear plate to the front plate and they were all 3 almost completely out lol!

2 minutes later and I have a brand new TC ready to go shoot some more GSW's :D

Thanks Richard and Ade for the tips, I've never been too gutsy to take things apart following some disaters in the past where I've eneded up worse than I begun, but this time my luck was in ;)

Put a drop ( I mean a tiny amount) of thread lock on next time you do the job Dan......:thumbs:

I tightened a Canon one this week, so it isn`t just Sigmas.
