Kenko Pro 300 vs Tamron 17-50 2.8 non VC Nikon

I have the above two and they both work fine by themselves. The kenko works great with my nikkor 70-200 vr and limits my d7000 by a stop and show the corrected focal length etc.

However when I use it in combination with the tamron 17-50 it doesn't seem to pass any information to the camera. The camera still registers it as capable of f2.8 and it doesn't apply the 1.4 multiplier to the zoom.

Has anyone else encountered this? Is there a fix for it? Or should I contact tamron and get the lens updated or something?
 
My pro 300 1.4 does not change the aperture values on my 300 f4 AF. My d90 shows that i can still hit f4 with it on. The exposure is accurate though, so i just mentally note it and stop down anyway.

Latest version of the Kenko Pro has revised lens/camera reporting, but I wouldn't worry about it. It only affects the Exif data.

Why would you want to use an extender on that lens anyway? Won't be very good.

It was purely to check out whether I would like the range of a 24-70 :) which I did, so I will be getting one of those soon.
