Kenko TC's

The Pro300 DGX 1.4x is the latest incarnation of TC's and IMO is by far the best. There's hardly any degradation to the IQ of the lens and it reports the correct FL and F stop in the exif. One thing I did read about it, and the main reason I bought one, is that it allowed the Canon 100-400 L to retain AF on the 550D, 60D, 7D, 5D2 and 5D3, and I assume other bodies too, even though it registered as f8 in the camera. Add that to the fact it worked on 5 of my lenses whereas the Canon worked with only 1.

:plusone: Excellent piece of kit

Mine doesn't report the correct FL or f-stop on some of my lenses (Nikon ones) but does on Tamron and Sigma

Thanks. So is the older one the non DGX? (whats DGX stand for, can't find it?)
Whats the difference between the older and newer?

I have the older one which is just called "DG". I believe the DGX reports the correct aperture and FL on more lenses.
My DG reports correct FL and aperture on my Nikon 300mm AFS, but not on my Tamron 90mm macro.
AFAIK there is no difference in the optics between DG and DGX. No idea what DG/X stands for.

:agree:

I use the DGX version on my 5DMKII and 7D and it will AF at f/8 (albeit a little slowly in poor light).

It also works perfectly with the Canon EF75-300mm f/4-5.6 L IS USM which won't work with any other teleconverter! ;)
