I usually photograph cycling, particularly BMX racing but have been approached about shooting sone Under-13 football.
My question is, will my 80-200 2.8 be nough reach or will I find myself looking for more? Been looking at 300mm bur can't justify the outlay for what may only be a few matches.
 
if not using a ful size pitch then 200 is plenty.. if using a full size pitch you will need to be patient and wait for the action to come towards you:)
 
I hoped that would be the case. If it becomes more frequent / profitable the 300 2.8 will definitely be on the list.

Brian changes his hobbies every yr or so (photogrpahy lasted just about a yr) and I think liam does as well.. usual for kids:) mine change..

Currently Brian and Liam go fishing a lot...
