A MURDER investigation is continuing following the death of a Gloucester man on Saturday.
Kim Hibberd, 55, died in hospital after suffering critical injuries during an alleged disturbance near his home at Lesanne Court in Parliament Street on New Year's Day.
Tributes to Mr Hibberd continued to be sent to The Citizen following the news of his death over the weekend.
A keen photographer he had been avidly taking pictures for around eight years.
In August last year he held an exhibition of his work at St Michael's Tower
As well as many county landmarks he also captured some striking animal and nature shots.
He spoke to The Citizen at the time describing the positive feedback he had received and the pages of comments people had left him praising his work.
Gloucester born and bred he was well-known and was often seen frequenting the city centre pubs.
Friend Lyn Cinderey said he would be sadly missed.
She said: "Kim was an excellent photographer and was always kind and polite to me.
"I know he had some health problems and difficulties with alcohol but we always got on well.
"He was a brilliant photographer and we often discussed how he wanted to take 'spooky' pictures of me for my ghost walks, and we had a laugh about it.
"We are currently restoring St Michael's Tower and Kim was going to take some before and after pictures for us but now we won't be able to do it.
"It is very sad and he will be greatly missed."
A 32-year-old Gloucester man, initially arrested on suspicion of assault and grievous bodily harm, was re-arrested on suspicion of murder on Saturday evening.
He was later released on police bail until January 31 while officers conduct further inquiries.
A senior detective has also now been appointed to lead the investigations into what happened but the use of a weapon has so far been ruled out.
