I just gave the pic a shot of USM and ran noise reduction just on the background. I might be inclined to crop a little tighter on the left as the eye tends to wander around the back of the bird? :)

Lovely shot, I have only ever seen these flash by in flight.

this is the shot i want bull rush kingfisher is a classic. i think this image has a lot going for it .

i would use my b/g technic and noise reduction to bringthe best out of it.

how much of a crop was done if any .

Thanks JP dont have the original myself any more due to a computer crash, had to rescue this from my FlicKr pics. I did crop a bit but not much,i have seen kingfisher many times but not like this. Dying for a second chance at one.
 
Great shot (y) the bullrush shows just how small these beautiful birds are .
