Yes
Was out shooting Kingfisher(s) at the weekend. Got a few pictures, wasn't entirely happy with them but I thought I'd share them anyway.

Getting close to these anywhere just seems impossible :(
The light was terrible and shooting with a 1.4x on 100-400mm made that worst.
Add that to severe cropping and on the whole you end with crap pictures! (Cropped from 42mp to 3mp-ish!!!)

Might not be up to huge wall print standards but you should still be very happy with these I'd say - never easy to get the flight shots and you've managed to get a good selection of very good wing poses.

Nice work

Mike

great set, id be more than happy with them, been trying to catch one of these little devils for months now, but i think I'm going to give and try to photograph a ghost, got to be easier :)

Sometimes the catch outweighs the quality and id say this is one of those times.

Ha, if these are your crap pictures then I think you're doing pretty well! You've got a nice set, capturing some character too - I'd be happy with these.

You should be happy with your efforts, they are not bad at all and even getting one in the viewfinder is a real achievement. Also, it's not always about the photography, kingfishers are a joy to see, let alone photograph.

Image 9 would be my pick of the bunch. (y)

Thank you all for looking and the compliments :)

As @pooley mentioned above I can't really print these particularly big and that's my main issue. Not even A4 size with decent resolution.
They do fine for online sharing but that's about it.

But you are all right in that it is a pleasure just see and watch this bird. It is really a jewel!
