Nothing wrong with genuine Kingston cards. BUT there are a lot of fakes on EBay! Better off getting them from a reputable source. What about 7dayshop.com or Amazon? last time I looked, both had some good offers on!
The Kingston cards I bought were veeeeeeery slow! Seemed like a bargain at the time, I'm sorry now (they were genuine). OK for single shots, as in landscapes, etc, but takes a while for the image to appear on the lcd. The ones I bought were the green ones, not sure which model as they haven't seen the light of day since.
I was shooting with someone on Sunday who had just bought some for her D300s, and she came over to ask me if there was something wrong with her camera as it took so long for images to appear!
Only Lexar and Sandisk for me now.
Cheers all, completely disregarded the fact that I'd need CF cards when I bought my D700 yesterday, got stung for a 4GB card in Jessops to the tune of £30, but need a couple more with a budget of next to nothing! Guess I'll try Amazon and see what they've got.
I have one Kingston and the rest Sandisk, so far no problem with the Kingston. However memory cards and Ebay are very much buyer beware, I may be the unluckiest person alive but I have bought 2 from Ebay which both turned out to be fakes. I decided to risk it a second time as seemed like a reputable seller, luckily they were good enough to refund my money when I complained.
I've had two Kingston Elite Pro 8Gb cards, both utterly bullet proof. I wouldn't bother with eBay, you can get them cheap enough from proper online retailers.
I dont see why, if your smart and careful then you should be ok.
I personally bought another 4gb sandisk extreme III off ebay the other week as there was no way I was forking out £35 for the same card that cost me £15 in march :bang: (inflation on memory is worse than depreciation on a porsche)
Now when it arrived from ebay it looked genuine all the stickers and code markings matched up same with boxes and manual and its exactly the same on all write and read tests so not bad for £16.
