It's a tough call Mike as they both look good but viewed side by side i would go for no1. Too many birds are heavily cropped, That bit of space really makes this particular photo.

Great shot, actually I would like to see how it looks as a square.

I would also clone out that little nodule at the base of the tail. I find it strangely distracting!
