Hi guys, I dont know how but my kit lens has decided to not process anything properly above ISO400, so im left with a grainy pixellated picture with no difference from ISO400 to ISO3200. This is the 18-105 VR.
The only other lens I am left with is my 70-300 VRII and the camera seems to have no problems with it, business as usual.
Im currently on holiday in Taipei and Hong Kong and planning on buying myself a Sigma 10-20. However theres some room left in the budget to replace the kit lens with something between 20mm and 70mm, Ideally I dont want to spend more than £300 if possible (give or take a bit). Im interested in any brands, primes or zoom lens. Any help would be great :)

The Tamron 17-50 non-VC would seem a good fit. You loose a bit in the long end and also stabilisation but it's sharp and constant f2.8.

What about Nikons 18-70mm (although it doesn't have VR)

Okay, am I missing something here, but does the lens even know what ISO is set in the camera and if so, why?

I dont know, all I know is that it is not handling ISO properly above ISO400.
I dont have the time to get it looked at either because I work on a construction site in the middle of nowhere and only get a break every 8 weeks. I'll get it looked at next time I go home (to the UK).
