hi all, I've been reading a number of threads about bags and what people use, and I do like the look of the Crumpler 7500 muffin top (esp. as they're a good price on amazon at the mo!).

my kit is ever-growing, and i've easily outgrown my Lowepro Fastpak 200... which to be honest I found a bit awkward to use anyway for going out and about and for storage at home.

So i thought about getting something like a Lowepro Vertex 100/200, mainly to keep my kit stored safely at home, and then use a smallish over-the-shoulder bag to take my body/lenses/accessories whenever I go out snapping.

but they is pricey bags! So I'm trying to work out how to store/keep all my equipment at home... Ideally I'd like a big bag to keep everything in, but that comes with a price.

so i was wondering what other people use to store their kit at home, is there an option i've not considered or missed! I think I might get a Crumpler 7500 to be my out-and-about bag anyway...?

my kit is in my TP camera bag

Down to Ikea and buy a cupboard?

:D

Just a warning, big bags with lots of kit weigh a lot and are a pain in the butt to lug around, you very seldom need all your kit in any one shoot. Why not be selective when venturing out.

i think this is where my train of thought is now going... first I thought of having a large bag (vertex) to keep everything in.

but now i'm thinking of alternative storage at home (everything in a box/flightcase, etc.) and a medium-size carry-round like the Crumpler 7500...

Store lenses and bodies in Clear Plastic storage boxes. In the middle of the box place a dehumidifier sachet, store your goods around it and put the lid on.

Just my 2p.

Alistair

now that's the kind of thing i should be thinking about.
i think i've over-thought the whole thing... simple is the way to go!

I keep all my stuff in a pelican 1600. Two bodies, 24-70mm, 70-200mm, 28mm, 50mm, SB-600, CF Cards, SD Cards.... Plus I have a Kata Rucksack for when I don't want to haul it all around. Rucksack will hold the 70-200, 24-70 and a body comfortably.

Like Flamez's suggestion - I store everything at home in a Tamrac bag (bought 2nd hand with that function in mind) and then use a Lowepro Primus for out & about.

That way I know where everything is, however only take with me what I'm going to use.

this was my original plan... it was just the all-in-one storage bag is pretty pricey :(
can i ask which tamrac bag you have and what kind of price you paid for it?
i'm thinking spending £100odd on a large storage backpack/bag is a bit much when a plastic storage container could do the same job

Peli case - but only because I already had one.
I'd also buy cheap plastic boxes and dehumidifier sachets if I were storing kit long-term.
For short term, it all stays in the 2 Lowe-Pro bags in the corner of the bedroom...

It's a Tamrac Expedition 4 & I paid about £30 from fleabay. Has lots of pockets/space for everything I have, plus it's well padded.

think tank bag for all kit (considering replacing with peli as it gets heavy) shoulder bag for body and primes, shoulder bag for MF film kit, random 35mm bodies, lighting gear and tripod all live in a wicker basket in my office.

Not secure but tidy and tbh it'd be just in the bags else
