Assuming you have more than one lens, how do you carry your kit, body and lens separated, or a lens on, ready to go?

The reason I ask is I'm looking for a new bag. In the past with film cameras, I always carried my kit broken down, so I could select lens for the job when I arrived at the shoot. Changing lenses often was never an issue, a bit of dust was soon sorted with a quick blow on the mirror or screen. Now I keep hearing all about sensor damage and dust issues, and cleaning is a big deal. So now, I'm paranoid about changing lenses too frequently. So I'm thinking a camera bag that only allows you to carry the kit broken down is not such a good idea, or am I worrying about dust too much?

Always carry mine with the lens I'm most likely to need mounted on the body and ready to go.

Never had a problem and always seemed the most natural way to work.

Have the 24-70 fitted to one body and a spare body with me to attach the wide angle or longer zoom to if i need them.

I usually carry 2 bodies and all my lenses and flashes - the 17-35 fitted on one body; the other body is stored sans lens. The 70-200 will usually go on the 2nd body as a default...

I Do the same, Except mine are not D3x's or nikon 2.8's

24-70 attached to the body unless I'm expecting to need longer or shorter at short notice. Whatever, the body always has a lens attached (any spare gets carried "short" since the bag's not big enough for 2 SLRs with lenses fitted.

kept the bodies in a separate compartment with the body covers on
lenses with both caps vertical
flash similar
odds and sods in another outer pocket
sort of billingham wannabe bag
