* Depending on your familiarity with the area / map reading skills an OS Map of the Island - if you can read a map might be able to work out potential interesting landscapes.

Waterproof gear for yourself and your camera.
No deet based insect repellants. It can melt some of the plastics camera bits are made from. Try instead avon skin so soft. Sounds stupid but it works a treat.

normal safe outdoors gear....

emergency bag / bivouac bag, first aid kit, whistle, emergency kit, route cards, maps, decent boots with ankle support, twice as many socks as needed, gps...

and maybe a camera?

Binoculars - suss out things before expending time and effort walking to them.

Same list of cameras as on your profile?

  • Camera Body - Just take the D3
  • Lenses
  • Filters
  • Tripod
  • Battery Charger
  • Memory Cards - and ignore data storage 'till you get back unless you only have a couple of 256mb cards....
  • Camera Bag
  • Remote Timer for BULB Mode / Steady Shooting
GPS data recorder? You're taking pictures not mapping the island.

Pare it down until you can actually carry the camera and lenses you need in one bag all day. Then work around that.

Beer and fags ... :D and ....... Oh, nearly forgot! ..... Plenty of lighters ;)
