Landscape lens choice

Getting back into Landscaping but quite confused as to which one to choose from the 16-35mm F2.8 mk2 or the humble 17-40 F4?
Some say the difference in price is not worth it. I sold my 16-35 ages ago and wish i hadn't but if can get the same IQ from the 17-40 then i can save a few squid.

On your 1.3 crop 1D MK IV I'd say the 17-40 is wide enough and unless you're wanting that f2.8 for other uses - I'd go with the 17-40.

I can't see the point of paying for an f2.8 lens for landscape work. I mean who takes landscapes at f2.8 or even close to that aperture?
