I tried out shooting early in the morning while on holidays (only time I was allowed out!).

As ever would welcome all feedback so as to get better.

Thanks

Jon

Nice light in all the shots but 1 and 4 seem to be heavily tilted. You might want to straighten them out

Good point well made, I'll sort that. Thanks Jon

Think you should put the foot down hard, a man should be allowed out anytime :rules:

Oh dear wonky horizon alert :) Tricky lighting for hand held!

Wasn't hand held - was trying out a monopod because luggage allowance wouldn't stretch to a tripod :)

(and yes I have fixed the horizon)

So nice to be in a forum where people provide sensible feedback rather than just nice shot.

Cheers

Jon

Excluding the wonky horizons, one is nice although the angle reveals a flat featureless horizon but the exposure and colours/saturation is nice.

Four has potential, but you have to watch too much near ground in a night shot, as you are left with a lot of blacks. Not an easy thing to do.

Image two is too tight a crop/. Three is lovely as you have the wonderful colours of the sky featured, but the cut off boat annoys me. Perhaps a wider shot to feature the boat in the foreground, with the harbour in the middle and sky back drop would have beem better.

Thanks for taking the time to review, all good points I think (to the point where the cut off boat now annoys me!). I personally really like the boat in 2 and can see that pulling back a bit and including some harbour and that great sky would've made a better shot. A morning well spent though as it held a number of firsts for me (and I now have a lightweight tripod for my next trip!) JP
