Laptop advice needed

Hello all

I need some advice from you folks about my next laptop. My current system has served me very well for 4 years but it is now tired...

So question 1...Mac or PC ...and I don't mean to open the usual debate as I really want the Mac but they all come with glossy screens...as far as the PC option goes I have had a look at some of the high end Dell machines and they also look nice...

Any advice will be appreciated

I was thinking of getting a decent laptop with a kick-ass 30" display as I have to be mobile...

Not unlimited but OK...

Difficult to compare as S.A. prices are way different from yours in U.K.

im assuming that if youre concidering macs then youre within the budget for dell XPS laptops?

Yep, had a look at the XPS series...what about the precision and vostro series though?

Think I will pop in at a dealer mate of mine tomorrow who does high end Dell stuff...he will not be able to advise me on Mac though...

The usual thing is always "...go Mac and you will never look back..." but it is a huge lot of money either way and I don't want to start playing the what if gamea week or two after having spent the money...

Yes.

There's also speculation that matte will become a wider option in the future.

Matte screen option has been added as an option on the 15" MBP now as well apparantly.

Matte is now available on the 15" MBP display as well as a cost option. I've just seen it on the UK apple store

Cool, thanks for all the respopnses everyone...

Although necesary it is not yet essential so will hold out until we can get a top-spec 15" machine down here in my village...and slap on the 30" Cinema display...

That looks like the most sensible option, yes?

Workable machine for portability and nice adequately large screen for editing at home.
