Laptop for under £400?

Hi All,

My OH has decided he would like a laptop for his birthday (which is why I now have a lack of funds for photography kit - damn him! ).

I am tempted just to get a Dell 1545 but can anyone recommend other makes / models for under £400 that might be better?

Nothing extravagent - pretty much just internet and Office - he loves movies so would like to be able to watch films. He's more of an XBOX gamer so that isn't really an issue.

Does he travel to work on Public Transport and wishes to use it on them? You may want to consider the screen size and weight too?

I used to lug a 15.4" until I got my hands on a 12.1" lighter lappy and my shoulders were a bit happier.

Windows 7 is released on the 23rd of this month - might be worth waiting until then, as most people seem to think it is better than Vista.

Also, keep an eye out on http://www.dell.co.uk/deals and http://www.dell.co.uk/outlet although you probably won't be elligible for Win7 with the latter.

Thanks for the comments all - I have gone for the Acer one (from Curry's) with a free upgrade to Windows 7 when it comes out. Can't wait till the 23rd as his birthdays before then!
