As of today my laptop has decided to turn itself off a couple of times while iam browsing the net.

Ive noticed that the base seems to have got hotter than usual, so I expect its shutting itself down as its overheating. Does anyone else have another suggestion as to why its shutting itself down?

download something like speedfan and keep an eye on the temps and report back :)

could be your vents are full of dust. do you use the laptop on a material surface like a sofa/bed etc?

edit - too slow

Yeah the only fan that I can see underneath isnt spinning. Left the laptop running for 30mins or so and it was getting hotter...

Taken all the screws out from the underside...occipital drive then slid out but I still can figure out how to remove the base part :o

Try, carefully, using some compressed air in a can to blow thorugh the fan and clear out the dust and fluff.

Good idea, not sure that would help but will try and get some off ebay.

The laptop is a Medion Akoya® Multimedia Notebook MD96698

Here is one on ebay...

Anyways I still cant figure out how it comes apart, I can start to unclip the top from the bottom but Iam pretty sure its not the correct way to do it as its not coming apart easily.

Be very careful because if you dont know what you are doing then the chances are you will ruin your laptop.
I have stripped plenty of laptops in the past and I have to say that there will always be a clip or a screw hidden somewhere and if the casing doesnt move away with no force then there is a good chance you will snap something.

Personally I would start by getting the nozzle off the vacuum cleaner and put it over the outside of the fan, see if the clears any of the dust and fluff that will have built up. If your a smoker and heavy smoker too then this wont work, neither will the can of compressed air, as the build up will be heavy and clogged to the fan itself which then leaves you with no option but to strip it.
Finally there is a possibility that the fan itself has packed up so that will need replacing.

If you do need to remove the bottom casing then personally I would recommend giving it to someone who knows what they are doing, otherwise the one you have seen on ebay that sold for £150 will be the cheaper option.

Forget about removing the 'base' for now, try to remove the keyboard.
It's usually quite easy and most often the CPU fan will be accessible from above.

Be careful, look for any screws, maybe under the battery compartment, or any little clips.

If you could post some good close up shots of the laptop we may be able to spot how to get it apart.
