Laptop required - pretty specific requirements

Yes
I'm going to be traveling for at least two years starting from April this year, starting in Northern Spain and heading East, on foot, camping and hiking through Europe into Asia and beyond.

I'm going to be needing a lightweight, small laptop, but it has to be able to run Photoshop CS5. That's my main requirement. I'd like a good battery life too.

My budget is unlimited, but I'd still like to keep it reasonable. Any recommendations? Again size is the biggest issue, I'm thinking 13 inches.

Have you considered the MacBook Air? The 13" model apparently runs Photoshop CS5 very well (although I personally haven't tried it), I suppose the SSD helps a lot with that, plus it has a Core 2 duo processor. Battery life is quoted to be 7 hours and it weighs 1.3kg. I'm not too sure on the performance of the 11" model if you want ultra portability.

It is not the cheapest option, but if you are (or know somebody who is) in higher education, you can get nice discounts.

I've looked at the Macbook Air, and It's certainly an impressive machine, I'm just a little concerned about its durability. I won't be throwing it around or anything, and it will be safely stowed away in the middle of my pack cushioned well and protected.

Battery life looks great on it, and I could get a student discount on it, but again, the durability is something that concerns me, as I've never really used one at length and it just looks so weak and delicate.

Another vote for a MacBook Air! I've had one for 3 years and am just about to replace it with another one!

I'm a business consultant so mine is always on the move, from office to office and hotel to hotel. Very robust for such a fantastic looking piece of kit.

What is the warranty from apple like abroad? I believe that Dell will warrant their systems internationally

yuech, what am I saying, recommending dell? AARRRGGGHHH

You will be gone for two years though, which is quite a lot of bouncing up and down for a laptop

Yup, another vote for the MBA.

I've always used MBP and iMac, but have had to resort to the MBA as I'm doing a lot of traveling these days. It's light weight, small, excellent battery life, amazing display and runs LightRoom & MS Office 2011 just fine for my travel needs.

At least two years yes, and it's all camping and hiking, nothing cushy other than the odd night in a hotel in cities. So I do fully expect to have to replace my electronic kit more often than I would at home.

I could do with an international warranty yes.

HP Envy 13 inch, claimed battery life of 18 hours with extra slice battery, very similar build quality to Macbook Pro, Magnesium chassis, excellent display, onboard and dedicated graphics, chiclet keyboard etc, etc, known as the Macbook Pro Killer.

£750 approx

18 hour battery life?! Thanks for that, definitely taking a look at the envy lineup.
