No
this may not be in the correct grouping as it is aimed at people who use laptops in the field but has any body got any views on windows 7 against xp pro

they both stable, theyve both as responsive as each other, havent had any software compatibility issues..

we're replacing our XP machines with 7 at the moment, no problems at all.

youll be hard pressed to find a new laptop with XP preinstalled now.

The Win7 starts up and shuts down very much quicker than one I had with XP Pro.

Other than that, there's only the stupid folder layout to contend with, after being used to XP !

Im running a Dell E6500 with Win 7 Ultimate and it flies along, mind you it helps having an SSD installed, 14 seconds to boot and launch my first application.

They do for orders of over 50 units

4 units only I believe.
We are a premier partner, but not for laptops.

Anyway, to the OP. Probably going to be windows 7 on any laptop you find in a shop which hasn't been sitting on the shelf for a significant period of time.
Either are likely to run as badly as each other.
One area where MS generally is poor, is the amount of disk-access on boot, and laptop aren't known for the fastest disks.
