Large Gem Backpack and Gripped D700

Ok I've looked in the search.

Hopefully someone has the above bag and puts a gripped D700 in. Basically I want to know how much of a snug fit it is please.

Is the camera too big for the bag or not as it seems to be very close on dimensions. There in an older style Lowepro that is meant to be almost identical but they dont sell it anymore. Anyway basically I want one to take my equipment abroad.

Any help would be great.

One of my bags is a GEM backpack and it would certainly take a gripped D700, but the bag itself isn't as substantial as others I have and I rarely use it now for that reason. I don't think I would take it abroad, I just wouldn't trust its ability to cope with any knocks and bumps.

I've had one of these backpacks for the last 2 or 3 years as my main bag and I regularly carry my gripped D700 in it with a 24-70 mounted on the camera and 70-200mm plus a prime or 2 and a flash in the bag as well. Size wise you'll have no problems with it.

As Gramps said though, it's not quite as durable and protective as other bags such as Lowepros. The shoulder strap on mine is showing signs of wear and the padding isn't quite as sturdy but it does the job as good as it needs to.
