Canon 24-105Lis
Canon 24-70L f2.8
Canon 70-200 f2.8is

So now looking for a good wide angel one question is whitch ?

Main camera 5dmk11
spare 50D

Thanks

Gotta be the 17-55L to match the rest
Won't fit on the 5D folks so that's a no-go IMO.. not only that the 17-55 isn't an L lens anyhow (due to EF-S status only I understand).

16-35 2.8L is the obvious suggestion though that's not very wide on the 50D but a perfect wide angle for the 5DII :)

If budget it a bit tight then the 17-40L f4 would "do" but my vote goes to the above ;)

Interesting that you have the 24-105 as well as the 24-70... I'd have thought there was little point in having the 24-105 as you have the 70-200 2.8is for longer range.

If you aren't doing really low light work, the 17-40 f/4L would be my personal choice. Very cheap for an L lens and has excellent IQ.

16-35 f/2.8L would get you an extra mm and you'll know you've got the best there is though.

what would your reason be ? for this lens
Which lens, the 16-35L f2.8?

Without actually getting into the finer detail of just how amazing the lens itself is, you've set yourself a pretty clear objective for what you want and looking at the Canon range there are but a few choices, of which the 16-35L is the best if you want to have the freedom of zoom.

If you are happy to go fixed, then you simply have to decide how wide you really need and of course how deep your pockets are.

So you need to consider your need/uses for a "wide angle" lens and with your budget in mind make your decision :)

yes sometimes low light, and came as a kit lens with the 5d. Only just got the 70-200 then b****r me today just had a tax rebate lol £600 lol

Ah right, so 24-105 kit lens (v. nice then!)... that said you could flog that, buy the 16-35mm and have plenty of change left from your rebate :)

That lens is about £1000 on flee bay, better look what lens really will do eh

Use www.camerapricebuster.com for price comparisons :)

10-20 is an ok lens for the money but it seems a little pointless to buy a lens that won't work on what I figure is your main camera.

If unsure then I always suggest people rent a lens first, especially if the price is nearing a grand! I did that for the 24-70 before buying one and it meant I knew it was 100% right for my needs :)

Do you carry both camera's?

If not id go for either 17-40 or 16-35 for the 5dmkII for wide angle.

If you do carry both camera's and want to retain the native field of view on your other lenses (on the full frame), I'd consider the 10-22 for the 50d.

How about Sigma 12-24 which works for full-frame as well. Doesn't get wider than that really..
