Latest sigma 17-70 f2.8-4

I tried one out recently after being disappointed by a Nikon 16-85, my test shots showed the edges a a little softer than the Nikon wide open but improves as you stop down or zoom in. other than that the build quality felt pretty good and the Optical stabilisation seemed effective. All of that withstanding i ended up buying a Tokina 11-16mm because i couldn't resist but would be happy to own the lens i tried.

Thanks, did you have any sample pics from when you tried it?

If it's the new contemporary range one, I have one as an everyday lens.

AF is fast. IS works well. Image quality is good for the money. You'd have to pixel peep to spot a difference with the Canon which is twice the price.

There's a slight CA wide open but easily rectified in software and it's slightly soft at f/2.8 but similar to the Canon's.

It also has an optional USB to EF mount adaptor to alter firmware and settings. You can dial in micro focus adjustments etc.

Yes, that's the one, I have elements 12 so that should do for correcting ca I think. And image quality at 70mm is alright then? Have you got any pics posted anywhere I could look at?

I have some resized images online - I'll stick the full size variants somewhere at the weekend.
