Layers in Lightroom Classic?

No
I use Lightroom Classic extensively for editing and don't intend to change, However, much of my output is destined for lettercards which I make for my wife, who likes to write real letters. My present workflow involves opening two files in Photoshop, one being the image and one being an A4 document with our address on the right. I merge these files in PS so that the image is on the left side of the template. leaving our address on the right, then simply flattening the layers into one file. With the upcoming changes to the Adobe Photographers plan I see no sense in continuing to pay for PS given its minimal use. I have yet to find a LRC solution, or am I better sticking with a similar process but using a basic (ie cheap) layers-based product?

What changes?

if you create the LR print output as A4 landscape then put two in the grid box in the print modul you can put two images onto the A4 page to print on the one sheet, so create the address as an image and then place that to be the image on the righ and select whatever image you want on the left, you can then change the lh image after each print and reprint etc.

Affinity Studio by Canva is free, and for most people, just as capable as Photoshop.

"Affinity gives you pro-grade photo editing, vector design, illustration, and layout — all in one app, for free."

You need to sign up to a free Canva account to use it, but once downloaded it works locally and you only need to pay for it if you want the "advanced" AI tools.

Edit: I have no idea what this unsupported client thing is about ? There is nothing about this when I look at the page and I'm using the most recent version of Chrome.

That’s an idea. I presume you can output the result as a file. I don’t use LR print module, much preferring EPL.

Thanks, I shall look into this. Sounds promising.

What changes?
Financial changes to how the subscription works. Don’t fully understand it yet but it’s been (very!) widely discussed in this forum.

I would say go Affinity or an earlier version of Photoshop.
Now, an earlier version of PS is a good idea. Just need to source one. It would be a good idea if I could get it as a one-off purchase.

I thought the changes had already occurred? Unless these are new changes that I haven't noticed , or they are still ongoing depending on when people's subscriptions run out.

If it's the change I think it is, the Photographer's plan (ie LR and PS with 20gb of storage) continues at the same price as long as you are already paying annually, or you agree to switch from monthly to annual payments. This option isn't available to new users.

I think I still have a few months to run on my present plan. I now just want/need LR Classic without PS so I'm unsure of the exact procedure to protect what I've already paid for before it runs out, if that makes sense.

Yes, that makes sense.

When your present plan uses up it's credit you can switch to annual payment for the Photography Plan and the cost is unchanged (~£120/year) - the only difference is you no longer get the option of the Amazon discount, but even at 'full' price, an effective £10/month is not a huge amount compared to the cost of everything else - and is actually unchanged since they first introduced it over 10 years ago.
You do now have the option of the LR only plan, but the extra to have PS is worth it I feel (despite only occasionally using PS).

Yes, I've just been in and done the sums. It's only about £3 a month extra, so it probably isn't worth while changing. At the end of the day it's a drop in the ocean compared with "other" photographic expenditure.

If you log in to your Adobe account it will tell you what your next payment to Adobe will be. For me it is £99.29.

Yes, I already have done. Although I have been paying annually with Amazon Black Friday deals it only quotes a monthly figure, from May, of £14.99
