I have noticed that each time I calibrate my monitor (every two months), I struggle more and more to meet the deisired brightness level demanded by my Spyder Pro 3. Could one of you kind folks please tell me if lcd monitors become less bright over time? This item is now about five years old. Time for a new model?

Yes, monitors (lamps) do burn out and it is normal. I have had HPZR24w (absolutely awesome monitor) for the last 3 years. Last week I had to set Brightness to 30 in order to maintain luminance@120. That is pretty good!

I presume yours is CCFL (older style) LCD. They do get darker, just like your electricity saving light bulbs. On the other hand my old one (2007) is not too dim to cause any trouble.
Whoa ... I'm a photographer. I have no idea what type of LCD it is.

All I know is that it is a ProView 2200W. But anyway, it seems it is not my imagination or that my calibrator is telling porkies. Looks like I shall have to dig into the wallet again in the near future. I need a new laptop too ... aaaargh!!!:bang:
