I was fortunate enough to be on Mt Ventoux in 2013 when Chris Froome won the stage and ultimately the race and on that hot sunny day I walked about 14km up the mountain to grab a whole host of shots ... these are my favourites:

#1 Peter Sagan

#2 Sylvain Chavanel

#3 Jerome Coppell

#4 Thomas Voeckler

Fine set captues the hot day very well particularly in the third shot. Those guys deserve every penny IMHO one of the hardest sports in the world.

Bastille Day wasn't it? Congrats for walking up and some great shots - Sagan always looks effortless. Chava's tattoo is an abomination.

There were clearly no TV cameras near Voeckler - no sign of his tongue ;)

Yes, it was Bastille Day, and it was estimated that there were a 1,000,000 people on the mountain that day, and it was just incredible .... walking up those slopes (averaging 9%) was hard enough never mind cycling .... its a 21km climb from top to bottom ... you could hear the riders suffer, you could visibly see the pain and we were only about half way up .... thanks for commenting and you clearly are a cycling fan, which is ace !
