Learning to use RAW

Hi all,

Can anyone give me some advise, ie recommend a book or internet site to start 'playing' with this.
I have the latest PS elements 8, Canon DPP etc but have been putting it off as I spend more time taking pics than correcting them.
Now I have a few that are reasonable I would like to see if I can improve them.
I have read a fair few articles in magazines but can't follow some of it.
Never used 'layers', 'light shop' or whatever either.
I admit I am ignorant but am also a technophobe with out much patience.

Scott Kelby's books are by far the easiest to read and understand I think. His Elements 8 book is the one you need, which covers Raw according to the Amazon listing. Elements comes with Adobe Camera Raw, right?

There is quite a good introduction to DPP workflow on the Canon USA site - it should be enough to help you get started.

Cheech, Elements 8 has raw decoders for very recent cameras and the workflow is natural and seamless.

Try some test shots and put them through and you may find things just happen.

You don't need layers and Lightroom and taking good pictures is 100x more important than post processing.

Scott Kelby books are good. Search Photoshop Elements on the Internet, there are many videos to watch that demonstrate how to do things. Until you learn about layers, always edit a copyof your picture rather than the original

Try "Photoplus" magazine geared towards Canon users...

Plenty of tutorials on elements and DPP...
