I Just returned from a cruise and the boat had a duty free Lecia V-Lux1 on special for $700...It looked great...yet farmiliar...!!!

I was holding my trusty Pany Lumix FZ30...and apart from the 10MP sensor...they could have been twins...

Now I just love the Pani...it has some flaws...but I can work round most of them...

But $700...???

I was shocked...

Have a look for yourself...

Even more like the FZ50...

Well panasonic and Leica do work very closly on the manufacture fo cameras

Look at the Lumix LX3 and the Leica D-Lux 4

I'm sure one of the other Leica cameras is the same basis as a panny compact. THis is also how panny can put the old L on thie rcameras indicating Leica lenses

Massive price difference right enough...

£x3 for the lecia...

I was thinking about buying a REAL SLR...but the x12 optics...and the manual focus ring...and the f2.8 - f3.7 on the lens...and my Raynox 250 easy-fit...and...and...

make me think that right now I can put up with 2GB max card...and the low light probs...and the F4 when you attach a flash...

I might even but a second hand FZ50...10MP...and some other tweaks sorted...got to read the manual...

For me their biggest and best selling point is the Manual focus SLR-type ring...especially for macro work...

I just gotta send out LOL to the Pani...it serves me well...so the D90 is on hold right now...
