The previous home owner has put in some poor led's in the kitchen over the sink and am looking to replace them with something a bit brighter and warmer.

Heres a picture of the dc power supply and also a picture of the lights themselves. Looking for a simple job, but what lights can i run off that power supply that would be a bit better than what is there currently? Possibly thinking of lightstrips but putting them above the current led lights so lighting upwards.

Honestly, I'd cut it out and replace it. LED transformers aren't that expensive.

It looks like it's going to deliver up to 25w. That's a little over a metre of 2835 tape or about 3 metres of 5050 but 5050 is normally 12V and this is 24v.

Choose the lights you like, buy a transformer that will power them.

Or......just cut holes into the board, fit mains powered GU5.3 downlights and get some LED bulbs off of Screwfix ;)

How about a strip light, normally used under a wall unit?

Something like:

It's quite bright :)

I'd agree with throwing away the existing transformer, just use the mains supply.
The connection in this case is two wires: neutral and live. You just use a connector block (as long as the supply is turned off! )
If it doesn't suit your needs just return it, so, open the pack carefully :)

Strip light sounds a good idea. Theres a junction box before the transformer, and there is a wall light switch (non-dimmable) along with the kitchen ceiling lights. Given the location of these lights are i am thinking they might make a nice night light when going through the kitchen. So a warm light connected to a motion sensor?

Something like the one you linked Ken, but a very warm light?
The pelmet adjoins a row of cabinets, so perhaps something like these: -

A sensor, and you would need a driver too.
No reason why you couldn't.

Those tapes you linked to look OK (though they are MUCH cheaper on eBay) but IMO look a bit ugly when surface mounted. I've fitted some in aluminium trunking with a frosted cover and it looks great. Just watch out because the ally costs more than the lights.

I would definitely replace them with mains GU10. Get rid of the transformers. Plenty of GU10 bulb options, brightness and colour temperature. My house had 34 MR16 12 volt down lighters, I've replaced every one with GU10 and never looked back.

This.
I've just swapped out some appalling lighting in my father in laws flat with 250v led GU10 bulbs
have a look at Wholesale Led to pick the ones you need.

Driver? What is that for?
In case it isn't already obvious, i am not that knowledgable in home electrics!

I have some Graphene bulbs from these chaps.
They do a number of other applications and despite being more expensive than others out there, may be worth a chat to.

(I have no affiliation to the company but saw them at an event and was impressed with the items they had)

Bookmarked for when my wife goes back to work and my two kids are out of paid nursery!

Philips Hue light strip and motion sensor would do the job.

Hue would be an option as we currently already have Hue in the house (a mk1 hub and 4 bloom's).

Doing some reserch on Hue GU10's i came across INNR bulbs that are Hue compatible, so that may be an option

I was thinking of using the strip lights above the pelmet so wouldn't need to be pretty. But given other recommendations now also looking at GU10's

Thanks, have found some Hue compatible GU10's, but as ever what started off with 'should cost me £20' has at least doubled.....!

Thanks, shall take a look. But don’t think I need chrome fittings as I think i will be putting them above the pelmet pointing upwards.

An LED driver regulates the power to an LED, keeping it constant.

The GU10 LEDs contain one. LED strip lights commonly do not.

You have a 24V one in your first pictures.
