Lee Big Stopper Vignetting

Just tried my Lee BS at 10mm on my D7000 and got quite a pronounced vignette. Composed the shot at 12mm and all was good

Anyone else got the same or am I not lining the filter up correctly??

You will on an ultrawide.

The light entering the lens towards the edges of the frame comes in at an oblique angle hence goes through more of the filter, so is darkened more.

You should still be able to reduce it to acceptable levels in PP.

I take it that you're using the wide angle holder on the (?) 10-20?

Mark and Nod are both correct - but likely only one of them fits the OP.
The vignetting Mark refers to I have seen on 24mm, but is reasonably subtle.
The clipping Nod refers to should vary quite a bit with aperture; small aperture would give sharp edges.

Yes, but did you try to use wide angle adapter ring?

Also which filter holder did you use? I see that LEE holder and that Hitech are the best for wide angle lenses, Cokin Z-Pro not that much, and with LEE 77mm adapter ring i can minimize or even not see vignetting at 10mm on crop bodies or 16mm on full frame.

As well as using the wide angle adaptor ring you will also have to change the Lee holder to only have 2 slots instead of three. When I used to have ultrawide angles on my D300, I would get vignetting without the holder being shortened down to 2 slots. This was with nd grads but the same would apply to the big stopper too.

Yes I was, Sigma 10-20mm lens and a 3 slot Lee holder with the BS in the nearest slot to the lens ()

Aperture was F11 and f16

I use the same lens and big stopper but have the 3rd slot removed from the filter holder and have no issues with vignetting at 10mm. Try it with the outer slot removed and see if it is resolved or do you need all 3 slots in use?

To be honest Jim I could probably get away with 2 slots so I think if you manage to avoid it on the same lens I'll give that a go, cheers for commenting
