First one one is an extension for the standard lee filter holder that allows you to use more filters. Essentially just extra slots. But the extension does rotate independently of the standard holder.

The second is the ring that screws on to a Lee filter holder to take a 105mm screw in polariser. Lee or heliopan.

To fit a screw inn 77mm you would need to have an adapter ring made and you would probably suffer quite heavy vignetting on a wide angle lens.

I have used the 77mm screw in with the lee holder attached to the front of that but its a pain to adjust.

Yes I know what the first one is but I’m wondering if the connecting bit is a male thread that I can screw the polariser into, By the sounds of it the second will be no good then.

At the moment I do the same as you and attach to the lens first and as you say it can be a pain, I’m not going to be going very wide so hopping vignetteing won’t be a problem.
