Lee's Linear Polarizer on a D700

I think i have just been ripped off on ebay, purchased a Lee's Polarizer and it was Titles and described as a Circular style 105mm Poliarizer un-used, there was an image and looking at it now shows PL L, so that was my fault for not looking more closely, and that was the response i got from the seller who is refusing to give my money back.

Is it possible to use this filter on my D700

I use LPLs on my DSLRs. Sometimes the exposure will be off a bit but it can usually be corrected in PP. They can upset AF too.

I would have thought that that is not the point though. You paid for a CPL (generally more expensive) and didn't get one. I do not use Ebay but I understand there is a grievance procedure.

If it was sold as a "Circular Style Polarizer", i think you may have a problem trying to claim your money back, if you try? The seller has described the item rather vaguely to be honest, in a way to almost fool a buyer into thinking it's a circular polarizer. But the vagueness of the advert also would be in his favour, too. You could try to lodge a complaint with Paypal, if you indeed paid for it through them?:shrug:

Circular style 105mm Poliarizer

should be able to get a return for that as it does not describe the item you got. contact ebay and paypal (if you used paypal).

Lee do two physical styles of polariser - a square (100mm) one to fit in the normal holder, and a round (105mm) to fit in the special rotating holder.

Unfortunately this means that there are grounds for confusion when polarisers also come in two types, linear and circular.

It sounds like the seller has described the item you bought as a circular style polariser to indicate it is round rather than square.

Not actually an incorrect listing, but certainly a wording that could be regarded as misleading.

Sorry m8, I sold it on and I made sure it was listed as a linear. You will be surprised at how many times I sold it over last weekend and then had to give the money back because they said saw the price but only read the start of the title which was lee's rotating polariser linear then after paying read it properly and was not the one they wanted.

No probs - I have just started assembling the Lee system. Not really in a hurry as I have B+W linear polariser though that is 77mm so it will have to go on a lens before Lee holder.

I am curious whether you have tried that before you sold it on D700 and found problems with it? I used my B+W on D200 with various lenses a lot and only had a problem with the focusing once (shooting on safari park from the car through the glass).
