Leica MR meter batteries

Try this company, I use them to source replacements for mercury batteries myself.
The website might be old hat etc but the company provide a really good service with my previous set of silver oxides turning up the next day.
I also just ordered some for the Minox today as well.

Oh and silver oxides is the way to go, alkaline and lithium just don't cut the mustard.

Thanks. I did think about the MR-9 adapter but apparently it puts stress on the MR battery door as it's slightly thicker than the original mercury battery would have been. I think the Wein cells I have ordered should be fine. Will I have to drill a small hole into my battery door to supply the cell with air, though, or are the air holes part of the battery's design and not referring to holes in the device holiding the battery? Only reason I ask this potentially daft question is because I recall seeing some devices with small holes where the battery is held...

Thanks Nick. Only prob with the adapters is the extra bulk (not a prob for cameras with screw doors but on the MR meter it's quite fragile)

Hopefully the Wein cells shoudl last up to a year so should be fine, and they will provide the exact voltage I need. I may see if I can try an adapter anyway out of interest and see if what I have read is true, or maybe one day I'll get my meter adjusted for the newer 1.5v batteries.

Cheers

Come to think of it Ian I did use this company before when I wanted a very small funny looking battery for an old bulb flash unit. Very good service as you have said, I would have bought my wein cells from them if I had realised they sold them sooner, hopefully the eBay seller will be equally fast with his dispatch!

Cheers

I use this guy for battery adapters all my old cameras that require mercury batteries,

Extremely helpful, quick delivery and very good value (y)

well I have to laugh at:- buy one 3.99p + 99p postage, but wait! you can buy four for 15.99 and only pay 99p postage erm how many would weigh enough for the postage to change from 99p anyway

The Wein cells have the air holes in them, you just peel of the tab at least 30 mins before using them so they can activate.
I'm sure the meter isn't hermetically sealed so you wont need to drill holes in it lol
