Seriously considering buying the above and have a few questions. Not quite sure how the ring flash works, it seems to indicate that the ring accepts s type fittings. Does this mean it can be used a a normal strobe too?

Also would it be possible to make up a kit which has a ring flash and a flash head and the generator?

The ordinary Safari flash head accepts S-fit accessories, the ringflash head doesn't take any accessories except its own diffuser.

The easiest option would be to get the Ringflash kit and add a flash head to the order - out of stock at the moment, but back in stock on Friday.

Thanks Gary , as usual indicision kicks in and I am wondering if I should go with two strobes and get the ring as an extra. Never used a ring flash to be honest but I do like the effect it gives. Do you use a ring flash much?

The ringflash is a pretty specialised tool, unbeatable in some situations but, like hot chilli, best used sparingly:)

I have the ring flash and have made a bracket to use it off camera with a parabolic umbrella u get a realy good light as its mounted perfectly central on the umbrella stem so the lights very even see pic...

Yep, it has a very stylised look to it, and is easily overdone (sometimes intentionally).

Unless you really want the ringflash, get the 2 head safari and start there. you can always add a ring later. I've not added the ringflash to mine yet as I have an Orbis, but may get one later in the year (when I need more power from the Ring)

I rate my Safari gear very highly btw.

Oh dear, moneys nearly gone:bang:

Thanks

Let us know how you find it - after watching the Zack Arias DVD I'm seriously lusting for some high powered portable flash (and my Interfit EX150 just won't cut the mustard!)

I'm considering the safari twin head kit - maybe the event package actually - seems good value for money. But after dropping £6,500 on gear in the past two weeks I'm running a bit skint at the moment, and my boiler exploded yesterday! If only Lencarta did finance

Take a wee look at the you tube video of the safari kit. Bet you buy

£6,500  you could have bought your better half a proper car for that :D

Hope you've got your insurance sorted out for all that gear. ;)

It's a terrible video with annoying music - but a good bit of kit:)

I was looking at that and will probably regret not getting it but I have gone for normal studio lights as I will get more for my money. Having had a read it looks like a brilliant bit of kit and would be great taking it out for a shoot out of the studio.
