Who has one of these?
Is the light on the back supposed to turn on when turned on?
 
What batteries am I supposed to use iv tried energiser, kodac x 3 lots and nothing working
HELP PLEASE!!!

Another thing which happens with lots of different radio triggers is that one of the dip switches gets tapped and breaks it's contact. IF you ever have a problem with ANY radio trigger (obviously after checking the battery) and I have seen this with Lencarta Wavesyncs, RF602s and the cheaper models IS flick ALL the switches from 0 to 1 and back to 0 again (or vice versa). This will often fix them.
 
Just thought I'd post here to see if any more people have any suggestions
as it seems to be a similar issue to me

The trigger seems to be working fine and ive tried it with an ebay reciever and it works
but the lencarta receiver does not seem to be working, I've put in a new set of batteries tried the dip switches on both the trigger and receiver in every combination
and it just isn't responding.

so now as a temporary measure, I'm using the ebay receiver attached to the safari battery by a sync cable but it's a bit of an inconvenience..

What is wrong with having DIP switches? Having some other method like a menu system or up/down buttons & display is just a really good way of making it more expensive for no real benefit !:shrug:

better triggers have easier to use controls because they're easier to use. To change dip switches is a pita and needs a tool, whereas on a pocket wizard, atlas or stratos you move the slider which is something that can be done quickly on the fly to test stuff

but then RF-602s cost 10x less then a PW.
 
My Elemental ones uses dip switches, never had to touch them though. Can't you just use a pencil or pen to move them?
 
I just use my nails but the reality is that most of the time they get set to one channel and left there! Pocket wizards etc are stupidly expensive and I dont consider a slider any improvement as they are easily knocked off channel. Each to their own though

The only tool needed is a finger, and most of us have 8 of those:)

I accept that but with DIP switches you don't need to. Seriously I have absolutely no problem with DIPs at all. I like the WaveSyncs as I really do like the mains adapter on them which avoids leaving them on and having flat batteries. I prefer the RF602 for their flexibility BUT I tend to use the WaveSyncs by choice.

I really cannot understand WHY anyone would buy the expensive transmitters unless there is a specific reason such as the Canon 5D bug (think I have the right camera there) or for TTL transmission etc.

:eek: What bug is it? The only thing I've found is I can't go faster than 1/125 otherwise the occasional black bar appears (even at 1/160 this happens sometimes).

There is one Canon camera with inadequate shielding that does not work reliably with the cheaper triggers such as Wavesyncs or RF602s. I might have the model wrong.

I have Pocket Wizards because I bought them when they were the only decent quality trigger on the market ;) I usually use them on channel 4 and have black tape to make sure it stays there. Occasionally I'll set up something clever with multiple flash guns and put one set on c1 and the others on c4. Then I can either use different cameras to trigger or swap from one flash to the other with a quick flip. Certainly not a big enough benefit to justify the cost :D

I'm also testing some 602s. They seem OK but
1. They don't work with a Hasselblad H3D - it shorted for a couple of seconds before I could rip it off!

2. First time I used them I got very inconsistent flash fire. I was getting different power firing (either for real or syncing at the wrong time). There were too many variables to pin it directly on the 602s - I'll have anther test.

but just wanted to say thanks to Garry at lencarta who replaced my faulty one ever so quickly with no hassles
