Lens Adapter Issue Advice Please

Hi All

I've just purchased a AF confirm OM to 4/3rds lens adapter. I fitted it to my E520 and set the camera to Aperture Priority. I was expecting to be able to set the F number on the camera and then adjust the lens manually to the same aperture. Instead the camera indicates F2.8 and I cannot adjust this at all. Have I not understood correctly the way this adapter should work?

"AF confirm" to me indicates that the adaptor will allow the lens to mount to the camera but will only confirm that focus had been achieved and won't allow any control of the lens from the body. Not sure if there are any converters that allow full lens compatibility with alternative system's bodies but if such a thing exists, I would expect somewhere like SRB Griturn to be able to advise.
 
Thanks John the AF confirm bit is working as I expected. Its the in ability to alter the aperture in Aperture Priority mode. The camera sticks at F2.8 with an OM lens fitted and will not allow me to adjust. I mentioned the "AF confirm" because I think that it may be possible that the adapter electronics are mucking up the camera electronics. Or I have totally mis-understood how these things are supposed to work!

I think (not an Olympus user so not sure) that the AF confirm adaptors just have a chip in them that fools the body into thinking that an AF lens is fitted. There might be a setting in the menu that allows you to use the body as a meter - have a read of the manual.
 
Yes sometime their is something in the camera menu,that tell the camera that you are using an adapter worth having a look at the manual. :)
 
Thanks for the advice folks, re-reading the manual and the advice here has made me understand how it all works. The camera is metering correctly in AP mode, the AF confirm works fine, in fact the only thing that would appear not to have been working is my brain! :amstupid:
