lens adapter question for noob.

Hello. I am getting more into photography since I got an olympus EPL-1 bought for me for my birthday. My dad gave me all his old gear (lenses and filters) for his old olympus OM10 35mm SLR. I managed to get myself an OM-M4/3 lens adapter off the internet (not yet arrived, hense my questions). His old lenses have the zoom and focus ring as one. I had a play around with it on the OM10 and took a while to get used to but I actually quite like it now to be honest.

Basically it's the item descriptions I am confused with. They say the adapters are "focus infinity"...does this mean that you can only focus infinity or just that they can manage it?

Any help would be appreciated. I am going down this route with the older lenses and adapter as many of you know the extortionate prices of M4/3 lenses on the market and with only just getting into photography I'd rather just save that money for a proper DSLR when I get better. I am taking an online course at the minute and practicing loads so hopefully my skills will come along soon

Hi Paul,

Basically some adapters mean that you lens no longer focuses to infinity. i.e you can only focus for some distances but as you try to focus on distant subjects you can't.

The adapters that say they do focus to infinity mean that you can still focus on distant objects so can use the lens the same way as on the OM-10

I hope that makes sense. I know what I mean but I'm struggling to explain it well!!

I ordered it to my parents house whilst I was seeing them on my holidays only to have the wrong one delivered. I am now back home in Scotland and the replacement arrived at theirs today. I now have to wait for them to post it to me:bang:
