Hi guys, new to this forum (and pretty new to photography as well).
Im off to Indonesia and S.E Asia for a year and Im in need of some advice on what lens would best suit my needs.
My main area of interest is wildlife with a bit of landscape and portraiture thrown in. I currently have a Nikon D300 + grip, SB 900, Nikon 105 micro VR, Nikon 70-200 VR I and 1.7 teleconverter.
Im trying to figure out which lens to go with to cover the lower end of the range but theres so many different ones out there. Really starting to get confussed
I think Im just in need of a walk around lens. Something that can handle low light and also deal with spending months in the rain forest without falling apart. Also my budget is pretty low due to the amount Iv already blown on gear so that is a definate factor.
So far Iv been thinking about -
Nikon 17-55 (second hand would be a stretch but could just afford it)
Nikon 16-85 VR (Read good reviews)
Nikon 18-70 (Old but seems to have a good rep and can be had for next to nothing)
Nikon 35 1.8 ( Cheap, fast and I dont mind moving to compose a shot. Plus its rubber seal and the fact it doesnt suck air makes me think it will handle the environmental conditions)
Any thoughts on these? Any other suggestions? Thanks.
