Looking at something like this on fleabay, the reason behind it other than price ;) is I feel I need something to bridge the kit lens(18-55) and my Sigma 70-200. I don't want to spend too much as I have plans for something else later in the year and I can get this past the BOSS.

Opinions please :D or other suggestions budget under £100 (well under)

Is that a gap that really needs bridging? Foot zoom it.

The lens you spotted isn't bad at all, for what is fundamentally a kit zoom. Contrast is a bit low unless you stop down a bit. These seem to be on Ebay at stupid prices at the moment - I got one "free" with a Nikon FA and reckon their normal value is around the £20-25 mark. On a Dx sensor they make a pretty reasonable "portrait zoom" that is a bit faster than many other kit zooms.

This an oldie but goody! It goes back into the 1980s mine came with my first Nikon an F401. Still a very capable lens, and great value!

The portrait bit was what I was thinking of.

Thanks

Nikkor 28-80G (or D) zoom

Will have a look around.
