Lens advice

I've recently installed a bird feeding station outside my window (I'm stuck in bed 24 hours a day) and started taking a few bird pics again, but these days the only lens I have suitable is a tamron 70 - 300 F 5.6.

It works fine, shots are fairly sharp (shooting raw) but there's noticeable CA when the suns shining.

I had thought of a couple of options lens wise but I keep getting drawn to the option of getting a 70 - 200mm F 2.8 & a 1.4x extender and maybe later adding a 2x extender.

This option would give me up to 200mm for other uses as well with the fast aperture, 280mm @ F4 with the 1.4 x and later 400mm @ F5.6 with a 2x extender.

The only other options all include either fixed focal lengths, slow aperture's and expensive glass.

Your thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.

Hi Ian, great shots, but CA is noticable on the sparrow shot. I am using the same lens atm and seems to be prone to CA. If you can afford a 70-200L with an extender then great, go for it. Quality is superb, but then again shooting through double glazing probably isn't going to do you any favours.

BTW, the owners and mods are great here, but I wouldn't be happy with the title under your name. Ask them politely to remove it and if they don't send them some poisoned Jaffa Cakes.
