I'm looking for some advice and thoughts on my next lens purchase.

I've currently got a Canon 70D. I changed the 18-55mm kit lens for the 18-135mm. I've also added the 50mm f/1.8 and the EF-S 24mm f/2.8.

I want to replace my EF 75-300 with one of the L series lenses. I don't really have a huge budget so was considering the 70-200mm f/4 L non is which is around the £400 mark.

Is the is version worth the extra £300?

Any thoughts or suggestions?

I have the IS version and it is my favourite lens. However whether it is worth the extra to you depends on what you want to shoot. If you want to shoot outdoors in bright light then you should get good enough shutter speeds to make the IS unnecessary. However if you will be shooting in low light the IS will enable you to use slower shutter speeds and still keep the ISO low. You should get between 3 and 4 stops advantage from the IS.

I've previously had the 70-200 f4L non IS. It's a great lens, probably the best bang for buck L lens.

That is a very good lens and worth every penny.
If you cannot afford the IS version then by all means go for the non IS one.
You will not be disappointed.
