hi everyone,
iam looking for some advise, i bought the the cannon 500 with the
18-55lens and i assume that 200mm lens would be the next best choice,
at this moment i wont be photographing landscapes, style is fairly up close and personal, so any ideas on what might be a better choice would be greatly appreciated.

I would get a 70-200/300, zooms are more versatile, fixed ie 200mm would be produce better quality pics but not by much.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

When you say 'up close and personal' do you mean tightly framed portraits? If you can give us more detail on the subject matter then it will be easier to advise. Do you have a budget in mind?

Welcome Nick :)

If you want to stick with Canon, and I would say that's a pretty good plan, then the lens Canon made to partner for the 18-55 kit lens is the 55-250 IS - neat lens and very good value.

Up scale a bit is the 70-300 IS, and top of the range is one of the several 70-200L lenses that Canon makes.

Depends on your budget.
