Lens/body caps

I have just watched 2 John Harrington "what's in my bag" videos on YouTube. Both videos covered top of the range kit but surprisingly there wasn't a lens or body cap in sight!
My question is why would you choose not to STORE your kit with the caps fitted?

So you don't accidentally leave it on

I dunno, mine always have my caps on when they're in the bag.

His definition of traveling light amazes me.

I'm guessing the lack of caps is for speed in use, but if it was me I'd fit the caps in the travel cases and remove them when I bagged down....

I know, that kit must weigh a ton!

I can't believe that £20k+ worth of gear is treated so shabbily. He does the same with both Nikon and Canon!

I keep my bodies capped if they don't have a lens on but I'm not as worried about lens caps with the lens hood fitted. I do put them on to travel but never put the caps back on while I'm working.

This seems to be the norm. I fully understand leaving a lens cap off whilst working but leaving a body cap off is another thing in my book.
I guess it's different when you have bought the items yourself.
