lens calibration/af optimization photos now added!!!

I have a

canon 7d
50mm 1.4 usm
70-200 f4L
18-55is

Camera is just over a year old. Not sure about 50mm and the 70-200mm

Do you think I should have the lens calibrated and the af optimization done

Has any one done it and what do you think the chance of me needing it

Why?, are you having any focus problems with any of the lenses, if not, you don't need anything done.
 
I don't know some times not as sharp as I would like... but and but it could be me....

So unsure some times I zoom into 100% and they don't look cleaver I am going out tomorrow afternoon hopefully

But just unsure if it me or the camera

Yea I'm going to thanks hopefully going to get out tomorrow so going to have a proper good look

And if still worryd ill post some pic up

Just wondered how many people needed calibration and optimization is it common or few and far between

Mainly the longer lens either front or back focusing but only the minority. Usually easy to sort out yourself with mico adjustment.
 
Yea I know about the micro adjusting but you need one of the things you put on a tripod and focus on if I'm right and a stand to put that on.

And even then its going on my eye sight.. and that's dodgy lol

Or unless some one knows a easier method please

No you dont.
Get a ruler, lie it on a desk and focus on a certain point. Make sure the camera is perfectly parallel to the ruler.
 
How do you make it perfectly parallel do you law it flat and focus directly down on it from above and dose it matter on how far away it is

Hi again been out today to my local reservoir...

And let’s say what a nightmare!!!!

I am having big problems focusing or it’s the camera!!

I came home and took these two shots on a tripod with shutter release.

Is it me or is there a problem it’s when I zoom in to a 100% I’m not happy.

Any help please as I'm doing my nut in lol

Impossible to tell anything with those photos really. The first just looks plain out of focus.
Choose a better subject, (like the ruler suggested, or a line of batteries).

a 0.6 seconds on the first, thats a pretty long shutter speed, even on a tripod. If you stepped on the floor board the tripod was on it could create some blur.
 
As sad as it might sound I have not got a ruler got to go and buy one ill get the miss to get one
 
Yea ill try that didn't think about that.

My head is realy screwed this weekend think I have try to do to much.

I'll do it tomorrow and put photo up tomorrow

Dose it matter how far away from photo you are?
