Hi

I've been enquiring about getting my lenses calibrated to my camera and have been told a couple of differnet things by different companys.

Lehmanns say they cant calibrate the lenses to the body but have a "God Lens" to calibrate my body and a "God Body" to calibrate the lens. They have quoted £60 per lens and £80 for the body.

AJ Johnstone want to see the gear before they will even quote!

Fixation say they can calibrate my body to lenses to check the body would be £160 plus vat and £80 plus vat.

I prefer the idea of Fixations idea as thats what im after, but its quite a price jump.

Ive not spoken to Canon Elstree yet to see what they say.

Has anyone any suggestions??

Cheers

It does have focus micro adjustment but to be honest id rather get it done properly.

? properley,

Whats wrong with focus micro adjustment it's exactly the same thing and if you do it once and note the settings it costs you nothing.

If your lens fails and you replace it you will pay out again, with focus micro adjustment it costs you nothing again.

Please do investigate bofore you spend your hard earned cash.

Hi

Im npt 100% convinced about the value of microadjustment on zooms, and ive had a read through a lot of the threads on here. I can see how it would work on a prime effectively.

Surely if its sent back and calibrated thats done in the hardware, under a controlled condition etc.

Thanks for the replies though i appreciate it.

Hmm Keeping an eye on this.

£160 is a fair chuck of money, but I'm in the same situation, I don't really feel I'm capable of getting the Micro Adjustment right on my own.

I actually decided to have a play with mine, couldnt seem to get much improvement on the 100-400 but didnt spend a great deal of time on that. My 24-70 is on +8 now i think and is much better. Having a cash flow nightmare so sending them away wasnt an option anymore!
