Hi
Just got the photography bug again, I'm getting back into it
Last time it was all 35mm, although I had a 30d for a few months
Results were not amazing but having said that I was only using cheap kit lens

Anyway since I have got the 1dmk11n I don't want to put cheap glass on it
Not that I'm loaded but would prefer to look around for nice used lenses

I will be using it for whatever takes my fancy at the time
I do tend to mostly find myself out in the great outdoors
Love wildlife ect

I'm thinking for my first lens the canon 24-105 f4 L

Then maybe a macro

Prob something along the lines of 70-200 2.8

Would be interested in your thoughts

Thanks

Chris

If your going outdoors and love wildlife then perhaps go for the longer lens (70-200) and a tc.

Really depends what you want to prioritise shooting.

Each of those lenses are quite specific.

The 24-105 would be a good general lens but would leave you short when it came to macro and wildlife obviously.

I know I definitely wouldn't start with the macro, far far to restricting.

The focal lengths I use most are 10-15 and 200-500, that middle ground doesn't get a great deal of action...from me anyway.

Welcome to TP btw.

24-105 is a nice match as a walkabout on a 1.3 crop providing f4 is fast enough for your subjects.

I really like the value of a 17-40 on the 1.3 crop bodies too.

Hi
Thanks for info, I was thinking the same about the f4 max
But don't think it would cause me too much trouble
Suppose most things are a compromise really

I like the the sound of the 17-40, what are the results like?

My fave setup in 35mm days was a t90 and 50mm f1:2

What's the best in non canon lenses ?

Chris
