Lens dilema

I have a Canon 70-200mm f2.8 IS version and  it
the problem I have is that im longing for some extra reach for nature ect. I use it with a 5D so I also lose out on the crop factor but compensate with a
1.4 converter.

1:Now do i sell the 70-200mm and trade for the 100-400mm

2:Buy the 100-400mm and keep the 70-200mm (and risk a painful divorce)

or just keep the 70-200mm:|

If you would only use 400mm occasionally, get 1.4x (or 2x). They are not as bad as some people say, and with IS you could stop down a bit. Otherwise 400mm prime is a good one to get, but definitely keep 70-200mm

I sold my 70-200 and got a 100-400. For what I shoot, I think it was the right decision.

I was never that happy with the 70-200 with a 2x extender - its a long way from the 100-400 in quality.

The 400/5.6 prime is a good suggestion and a cracking lens.

Ditto the 400 f/5.6 its a lovely lens and great for birdies and things where you need the extra reach
