lens dilemma 24-70 on crop?

I thought I had decided on a tamron 17-50 but by looking at most of my images they are around then 30mm mark... So what's the 24-70 tamron like on a crop body? Any comments?
 
Longer. It depends if you need the reach or the wide end. As for IQ there isn't much in it really.

Do you mean the 28-70? The 24-70 is about £900. 28mm is not very wide at all on a crop camera, being 45mm equiv on a FF. The 17-50 is much better suited for a general use lens. If you want the extra reach have a look at the sigma 17-70 lens which is a good lens too.

24-70 at 30mm may not be as sharp as 17-50 at 30mm. zoom lens usually best at middle of its zoom range.

just because it's more expensive, doesn't mean it's better.
