I read a post on here a while ago that suggested if DSLRS are stored in a camera bag, with the lens facing downwards (so the LCD screen points up), it could be damaging to the lens, and or camera.
yup I read the same post too - it was in a muffin top thread. Now...if it did damage lenses then..surely bag designers wouldn't design their bags this way..
I don't think it was damaging the lens as such. I seem to remember it being about it applied pressure to any screw in filter attached to the front and they could become jammed on the end of the lens.
IIRC the specific issue mentioned in that thread was that a filter had become stuck on the front of a lens and it had to go back to Nikon to have it removed. The advice of the tech was that lenses should not be stored front-down to prevent this happening.
